Getting ready for something new. I'm trying to research everything I can of every website that I can find or have been suggested to read.

My platform is a 95 ls. Looking to do a k20a or k20z swap soon. I already ripped everything out and starting to do a tuck. But before doing so, my initial plan was to do a ls/vtec. But why, at this point I wanna do something nasty. Going K.

My question is/are:
- Realistically, What am I going to spend from start to finish (ballpark), I have a boss lady I have to persuade.
- Are there any write ups on doing this; start to finish and my laundry list of items to order.
- I have read many different things that has work in other swaps, so I would love to hear more from others.

Thnx

A safe guess can be anywhere from 5-10k depending on how much work you do your self, how many parts you buy second hand, and just what level of parts you are looking for. There are many different ways to go about it. :)

After doing all the math on where i decided to go with my K-Swap, I realized I was going to fall right into the 8k mark or so.

Hybrid actually has a really useful checklist for doing K-Swaps with.

Here is a link to the one I got via email. http://www.discodordon.com/personalfiles/hrpartslist.pdf

Outside of that, take your time, plan, purchase parts wisely. There are a lot of little parts that really start to add on to the price, so its always good to make a list, double check it, then start picking up parts and checking them off the list.

A few things I would not cheap out on would be:
-Mounts
-Harness
-Fuel Pressure Regulator
-Fuel Lines
-Header
-Tuner

These are just some of the thoughts off the top of my head.

Hope this helps some.

Buying the bigger, more expensive items first can help the swap go a little quicker.

The engine is the most expensive thing you will need to buy, once you have the engine/trans some of the other parts aren't as hard to get.

In the past few years the level of custom parts needed for this has greatly decreased. I remember about five years ago doing a K20A swap in an EG, it was tough. Now you can pretty much buy every part to drop one in, without having to do any real custom work.
