im a newbe here and have been doin some homework on the k swaps.... i have a 95 civic coupe (EG) and im lookin at dropping a k24a2 (TSX motor) with a 6 speed rsx type s transmission in it running hondata. I have purchased the DVD from hybrid racing and watched it.... that seems to be for the k20... i was wondering if the k24a2 swap is goin to work with the harness from hybrid racing and if im goin to have any complications when i go to install and get this swap up and running. or is swapping the k24a2 the same as swapping the k20's.....????? thanks for any info that you can give me....

It is actually very similar.

The only real differences you will run into will be few, some are:

-Engine wiring harness
The ECU and engine wiring are different and cannot be used with the conversion harnesses.
-Transmission case
The transmission cases use different mounting points so it will not bolt in.
-throttle body
The K24A2 has a drive by wire throttle body which you cannot use.

What are you goals for the car? Do you have any pictures of the car now?

my goals with the car is to make it a fun drivable car.... i have either been lookin at a k.... or turboing a b series.... but turboing sometimes isnt very reliable.... im lookin for something half decent relible that i can drive evenings and weekends out for a few rips and work decent........ so what about if i used a rsx transmission? would it not make it bolt into the eg ? also the problems listed.... how do i go about fixing these? such as the drive by wire and stuff?

If a turbo setup isn't done correctly, it can be VERY unreliable. The great thing about the K swap is that you don't have to turbo it for it to be fast, fun and reliable. The engines can remain mostly stock and they will make great power.

The issues can be solved, most without much work.

The drive by wire issue can be fixed by changing the throttle body and cable bracket. You will need an adapter and an RSX Type S throttle body and cable.

If you used the RSX (K20A, K20A2 or K20Z1) transmission it will bolt easily into the car with the conversion mounts.

You will also need to change the engine harnesses to the K20A/K20A2/K20A3 so that the conversion harnesses, and applicable ECU will work.

Like I said, all of the issues can be fixed, but it sometimes may be easier to get a complete K20A2/K20Z1 swap as a whole, instead of buying a motor and having to go back and change things.

I haven't heard of this issue.

The car will not stay running? Like idling?

It sounds like it could be a fuel issue perhaps. I know that a common issue is the idle surge. This is caused by buildup of calcium in the idle air control valve. If an engine sits for an extended period of time, the valve will become corroded and get stuck shut.

When the engine reached operating temp, the valve cannot open causing the idle to flux.

Other than that, as long as you have all of the necessary wiring, and fuel components in place and functioning correctly, you shouldn't have any issues.
