The camera that I use is a Canon Powershot SD790 IS. It is perfect for my family. It has a lithium battery that lasts a LONG time and I have a 4gb card that I havn't even come close to filling halfway up. It retails for around $300 or so and Ebay has them ranging from $20 and up used. I would look into a Canon Rebel if I were you. That camera is very versitle and can except different lenses. A thing to note about my camera and the pics I take is that I use the macro function with no flash alot.When I take pics like that I have to be perfectly still which is nearly impossible. If I wasn't such a cheapskate, I would buy a tripod to make my pics come out clearer.
